Thread: Concession Prices

  1. #1

    Default Concession Prices

I go to most UL basketball and baseball games with an occasional football game and have noticed something this year. Concession prices, especially beer, seem to be ridiculously high especially at the Cajundome. Seriously, how many people are going to pay $6 for a small beer and $8-9 for a large? I would drink lots of beer at games if they were selling for a reasonable rate.

I understand the University needs to make money but this isn't the NBA, NFL or MLB. And I refuse to buy anything at those games because that is supporting a bunch of overpaid players and owners. (That's another subject I don't need to get started on.) My thoughts are lower prices lead to more items being purchased versus the opposite.

I think it has to do something with the catering company we use...why we need a catering company to sell concessions is beyond me! Prices and service was GREAT without the catering. It seems like when they took over, prices sky rocketed! Can anyone back this thought up for me, or am I wrong?

They owe the city big bucks for not charging sales tax in the past. The seem like they are trying to catch up all at once.

We had a catering company before they were just a lot better than sedexo. Sedexo sucks bad, I really can't stand the current catering company. They sell way over priced crap. Their nachos are crap, hot dogs are crap, cheese steaks are crap and the guy that runs around the tigue yelling is a f'in _____hole

Hell the prices at NBA, NFL and MLB games arent even as high as ours. Cajundome prices has been this bad for the past few years now though. It's not recent there.

I don't remember a catering company ever running concessions in 90's, food was GREAT then! And the fact that they don't serve traditional nachos or hotdogs is dumb. Chips in bags, cheese and everything else on the side...hot dog plain with other stuff in separate cups (and its always WAY too much In the cups for 1 hotdog) and I miss just a simple barbecue burger!! Why do we need a 7$ burger?????? Really 7$ for burger at softball game, 3$ for powerade. 10$ meal at softball game, considering I cut my income in half this past year to finish my last year of nursing school, 10 bucks is a lot for a college softball game meal. Used to be really good concession prices for softball.
What's wrong with what we had before?

I had a Cheese Steak at the last game I went to and what a rip off. Not only is it over price but it is bland as hell, a 20 minute wait and you get the pleasure of dealing with the ass making them. I wanted to grab his spatula and slap him with it. Someone should tell that clown that if selling cheese steaks at a sporting event isn't your ideal job then find another career.

I say let the cooking club have the opportunity to cook and sell burgers, etc.. at the game. Would definitely taste much better and be served with a smile.

SUGGESTION: Email Scott Farmer with your concerns and let him know the fast nickle vs. slow dime principle will make more money for him at the concession stand and ticket booth. Until prices drop and they get rid of the rude baldheaded guy who has a bland take it or leave it attitude, let Farmer know you will not buy concessions, nor can you afford to. If enough people send the message by NOT BUYING, watch services and prices improve from this band of rip-off artists. I am all for supporting our university, but NOT at the expense of rank and file fans who can't afford their outrageous prices. Look what happened to the greedy folk with original Ice Gators. They priced themselves right out of business. UL is not immune to that.

It woud be interesting to see a list of names involved in the ownership of this catering service (sic).

I also thought the bald guy was very rude. He tries to be funny but he is not, what he does is make people feel uncomfortable because you are not sure if he is trying to be funny or he just hates his job. I will also not buy from him again.

I had no problem paying $8.50 for a large Abita at the basketball games. You are talking about a 32oz beer... Any idea what beer costs at a saints game?
