UC Davis threw their 2005 ace last night (Dave McKae) against Wichita State. But their #2 and #3 starters are available for tonight and tomorrow. Michael Potter was the Friday night starter in 2004, with McKae pitching on Sundays late in the season. Potter has struggled some this year (1-1, 5.28, .276 OBA), but has been consistently getting the #2 spot in weekend series after holding the ace spot in 2004. Alternatively, UC Davis could elect to go with #3 starter Vince DeCoito (1-2, 3.32 ERA, .260 OBA). Closer Sean Rooney (0-2, 2.00, .306 OBA) threw an inning of relief last night against Wichita State.
Hawaii has already thrown their top two starters (Bauer and Bryant) in the tournament. Hawaii will likely throw either #3 starter Colby Summer (1-0, 4.86, .294 OBA) or #4 starter Justin Costi (0-2, 2.60, .258 OBA) tonight against Wichita State, leaving the other starter available for action against the Cajuns Saturday night.
