But I doubt it as well

Your definition of a rival sounds like a conference opponent.

I have a serious question. Is ULM our rival? cause I have heard many people on here say in the past that the sun belt is trying to push this ULM and UL rivalry and that we are not really rivals. If that is the case, then there is no way we are rivals with LSU.

    Edit:
Also if a school (not talking about the fans in particular but the school itself) does not respect us enough to come play us in Lafayette, in really anything, then how could we be rivals?

I agree with this. I think there are certainly games that have a "rivalry" feel to them because of outside circumstances leading up to the game. Certainly UL/LSU games have this feeling, regardless of the sport, mainly due to the close proximity of the schools to one another - making them very well attended - and other obvious issues between the fanbases. I would argue that a true rivalry is found in a team's conference. I know there are certain exceptions but, for the most part, conference foes are played every year and usually have a larger role in deciding a team's fate.

We don't have much of a history with ULM.

LaTech, McNeese, and LSU are our huckleberries.
