    Just kidding by the way!
The only SEC team with any softball history is tennesee and they are 10th. The NCAA is determined to give the SEC a softball national title, but I don't think it will happen soon.
History has shown over and over again that softball is ruled by PAC 10 and a few other schools from big 10/big 12. But boy, it would be great to have a sunbelt school achieve a national title in a sport before an SEC does!!!

North Texas got another nice win last night splitting a double header with #16/11 Missouri (#5 in RPI), considering they took one game from us in the series we need them to continue to do well. Just like all the Sun Belt teams obviously. Also a sweep against FIU will be good as they have wins over Georgia Tech (twice) (#15 in RPI)

btw the Cajuns moved up 8 spots in the RPI (to #48) after sweeping Troy who is in the 90s, should continue to move up if we can sweep a mid 60s FIU team

They are not overrating SEC teams. There is no shame in being the second best conference in the country. The top SEC teams do win more games in the regular season than do the PAC 10 teams and they also do well in post season play. Don't you remember that there were as many SEC teams in the World Series as PAC 10 teams (3)? Just because a PAC 10 team wins the championship doesn't mean the SEC is overrated.

I'm not Tank, but I'll give you an answer. Anything is possible, but, traditionally, even with all of the great pitchers we have had, PAC 10 schools have always had our number. They face pitchers like Ashley over half of their seasons, including in their own practices. But this is why we have just as good a chance of winning the national championship as any SEC school. We have similar types of players, we have similar styles of offense and defense. We would have had a great chance if Donna had stayed, but the key now will be Christina & Taryn. We will need Taryn batting at a similar level as Gabby & Christi and Christina handling the pressure of post season play if we expect to make a run at the national championship. My answer to your two questions are yes and no.

That won't keep us from hosting. Our rpi will be the first thing that will keep us from hosting.

You made my point for me in the post that followed this one. Yes, there were as many SEC there, and they win as many games in the regular season, but the regionals to get there are exactly that...regionals. The southern teams usually beat other southern teams to get there. And like you said, the PAC 10 teams face pitchers like Ashley every day. And also like you said, the PAC 10 teams are the ones who usually win in the WCWS when they face the SEC teams. Thanks for agreeing with me?
