Ragin' Cajuns, Lady Cajuns await winners of today's matchups
DENTON, Texas - The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders would love another shot at Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns.
The same can be said of Florida International's Panthers in women's basketball.
But both teams will have to endure first-round games here today at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to get the chance to avenge regular-season losses to Louisiana.
The tournament begins today with six games, five of those staged at host North Texas and the sixth set for nearby Texas Women's University.
FIU, the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Division, meets No. 5 West entrant New Mexico State at 11 a.m. to see which squad will meet UL's West Champion Cajun women at the same time on Saturday.
The Panthers lost at home to Louisiana by a 68-58 count on Jan. 24, part of a break-even 7-7 mark in Sun Belt play this season.
MT's Blue Raiders are the No. 3 seeds from the East and are favored over West No. 6 New Mexico State for tonight's 8 p.m. finale for opening day.
