  1. UL Football Addition Of Sims As Defensive Backs Coach Completes Ragin' Cajuns Coaching Staff

LOUISIANA La. -Terry Sims is the final piece to Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns football coaching staff and will coach the defensive backs, head coach Rickey Bustle announced Wednesday.

Sims, who previously served as defensive backs coach at Prairie View A&M, replaces Clay Jennings, who had been a member of Bustle's staff for the past two seasons.

Jennings recently accepted a position with the University of Houston coaching the secondary. Jennings spent two seasons at Sam Houston State prior to joining Bustle's staff in 2003.

While at Prairie View A&M, Sims coached the defensive backs and kick returners. Sims was also in charge of breaking down opponents' film, planning recruiting weekends, organizing on- and off-campus recruiting, preparing opponent scouting reports, as well as acting as academic and compliance liason.

"I think Terry is a great addition to our staff," Bustle said. "He comes in and brings us an experienced defensive backs coach.

"Obviously, his ties to the Houston area was a factor. He's going to be recruiting the Houston area and we are really excited that he joined our staff."

Prior to joining the Panthers' staff in February 2004, Sims was the assistant head coach and defensive backs coach at Texas Southern University in Houston. Prior to being named assistant head coach in March 2001, Sims was defensive backs coach, recruiting coordinator and video coordinator at Texas Southern.

"I am very excited about joining the Louisiana football staff," Sims said. "I think coach Bustle has a great staff and the staff is really close.

"I think continuity is very important in order for the staff to be successful. I am joining the program at a very exciting time and I think a lot of great things are going to happen in the future."

Sims is a 1994 graduate of Knoxville College and he also received his master's degree from Louisville in 1998. He started his coaching career at Knoxville College as a student assistant. He has also coached at Louisville and Austin Peay State before joining the staff at Texas Southern in 2000.
