I saw him when he played Lafayette High. Dude is a beast.
Hopefully, Nixon, Jacoby Briscoe, and Alex Johnson get rid of those BCS dreams of riding Tiger pine and jump on to the Coach Hud ship before it sets sails without them.
I hope for our sake they do too, but I think Briscoe is the real deal and can play wherever he goes
yeah and I saw him live as well. I think he is a very good player. You have to understand though Hud was on Larry his entire Senior season and I can say this and BJ will back me up on this, Larry was Huds number one choice at TE and Quave was second. Not sure why Tatford wasnt as high, obviously a very talented kid, other than Hud recruited the other two while at MSU and John Hevesy recruited Louisiana for MSU
I try not to burn bridges by saying this player is better than that player or whatever. I kind of look at it like this, you all know I am very High on Guy Billups, but UL didnt have a slot for him. Maybe it was just a numbers game for Evan too
Hud and staff had no idea who Tatford was probably before taking the job. They were very comfortable with Larry. They still offered Tatford at Tackle, but he wanted to play tight end, so he went to Tulane. No hard feelings for either side.
Can we please let Hud hand out the stars?
I saw the Carencro team last year a few times in person when they beat Capitol and lost to Barbe. Briscoe is the real deal as is Alex Johnson. I like how Hud is not waiting around he struck first with a number of local talent that seemed like they are waiting on Tiger offers to greyshirt. Thats a ballsy move. Every one of them that came to Junior day walked away impressed. Hud pulled some big talent last year on short notice. This year he has a full year to recruit and the opportunity to have success on the field. He may be able to top last year in sheer shock value of how good the class was.
Briscoe consistently takes plays off...ask his coaches
I have never seen him play live, just on film. But I cant imagine any HS coach would say that about one of his kids thats getting the attention this one is getting
So do 90% of high school athletes, especially when the play is on the opposite side of the field. This is why no one ever sees bad plays in high lights video. And that is why its important for coaches to see kids play in person several times. They can get a gauge of an athletes ability and effort, even on bad plays. Those are the plays not shown in high light videos.
