University of Colorado at Colorado Springs women's basketball coach Marty Fletcher resigned Tuesday.

Fletcher, the former men's basketball coach at the University of Denver, said in a statement he was unwilling to move his family to Colorado Springs and the daily commute from Denver had become a burden.

Fletcher, 53, took over the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's program before the 2002-03 season, compiling a 27-54 record in three seasons.

Fletcher also doubled as the men's coach for one year, in 2003-04, leading the team to a 5-22 season.

In 22 years as a head coach, Fletcher has coached at DU, Southwestern Louisiana, now known as Louisiana-Lafayette, and Virginia Military Institute. He has a career record of 279-383.
