As a non-revenue sport money is pretty far down the list for site selection. This year the minimum bid requirement for a regional is $5,000 and $7,500 for a super regional.
The biggest issue is geographical need and seeding. They are going to place regionals in a manner that limits the # of plane flights and provides hosting oppurtunities to the top 16 teams in the field assuming they placed a bid.
I think where money comes into play is when "all other things are equal". Example: There is a need (four qualified teams) in the area and two teams in relatively close proximity were to finish ranked similar in wins, rpi, finish etc. and they have similar facilities. At that point a big discrepancy in the guarantee money could make a difference.
It would be nice if one of our radio host could get an interview set up with Scott Farmer to ask some of these generic questions. Then again Scott may not be able to discuss them at this stage since the season is under way.
