Two-run home run in the eighth lifts UL over Miami.

Josh Landry won the guessing game Saturday afternoon, and because of that the University of Louisiana's baseball squad is still unbeaten in 2005.

Landry delivered a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to bring the Ragin' Cajuns from behind in a 4-3 victory over Miami (Ohio) Saturday in UL's Mardi Gras Ball tournament.

The Cajuns, now 2-0 in the event, will go for their second straight home tournament title today when they face Texas State in a 4:05 p.m. contest at Moore Field. TSU is also unbeaten in two tourney games after taking a 6-1 10-inning win over Marist in Saturday's late game.

The Cajuns (9-0) trailed the RedHawks 3-0 in the sixth inning Saturday - the first time they'd trailed after the second in any game this season.

"One thing we've got to do is learn to win all kinds of ways," said Cajun coach Tony Robichaux. "That's how you find out about your club. We faced a good arm today, and we have to learn to come from behind."

Those prospects didn't look good after Miami starter Keith Weiser had locked the Cajuns down to one hit through five innings, and RedHawk third baseman Geoff Orr lifted a two-out two-run homer over the left field wall in the top of the sixth to give the Mid-American Conference favorites a 3-0 lead.

"He (Weiser) is a solid pitcher," said Miami coach Tracy Smith. "We knew he'd keep us in the game. This early in the season he was on a pitch count, but we wanted to see how he'd respond to some adversity in the sixth and he was able to get out of it."

The Cajuns got two runs off four hits in that sixth to cut into the margin, and John Coker bounced a one-out single through the hole into left field with one out in the eighth. That brought up Landry, whose RBI single in the sixth broke up Weiser's shutout.

Josh is a great athlete, he gives 100% all the time, you could put this guy anywhere on the field and he'll make plays for you. I watched him pitch at CHS, and I think he'd be one of our top guys if we needed to add another arm to our rotation. Hope J.L. keeps it up because he's a major player in our lineup, good speed, good stick, good glove, & good attitude.......

    Keep it up Jeanerette boy
