Two wins in Arkansas secures regular-season title for Ragin' Cajuns
JONESBORO, Ark. - No one's going to hand the Sun Belt Conference Western Division title to Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns, even though it would be a fourth straight such honor, and coach Robert Lee wouldn't have it any other way.
Lee's Cajuns have won 11 of their last 12 games and stand 17-8 on the year as well as a league-best 11-2 in the Sun Belt.
They are a game ahead of Denver (16-9, 10-3) with two games to play, but will be challenged at Arkansas State tonight and at Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday while Denver finishes at home against South Alabama and New Orleans.
The Arkansas State Indians are a mediocre 13-12 on the season, and have lost five straight games to stand 5-7 in Sun Belt action, but there's likely to be a rowdy crowd on hand when the Cajuns hit the court for tonight's 7 p.m. game.
"Jonesboro has always been a tough place to play," said Lee. "We're excited to go on the road with a championship on the line."
ASU has slashed ticket prices tonight in an effort to pack the 10,563-seat Convocation Center for UL's visit, and Lee expects a battle despite the Indians' recent woes.
