The Julian Mouton Medal.


The medal is offered as an annual present to the Attakapas Literary Society by Judge Julian Mouton of Lafayette, and is awarded for debate.

The rules governing the debate are as follows:
  • The debate is restricted to the members of the Attakapas Literary Society.
  • The contestants are selected by the faculty after a preliminary debate.
  • Each contestant must prepare his own debate, and submit it for the inspection of the teacher of English
  • No debater shall read from manuscript.
  • The number of contestants is limited to six.

    Other medals have been offered for the next session by citizens of Lafayette. Announcements of the Objects of these medals and the terms upon which they are to be awarded will be announced later
