Who is stoping him? Asking questions on a message board is why this site exist. This is new territory for our program. We have always put our recruiting classes together late in the year. Not a big deal, because teams like FIU do the same thing and it seem to work for them. I just find it interesting on how a staff pulls the early trigger on one guy and not another. I do not envy that part of a coaches job.
BTW, that 30 number seems really high. That would mean we will have several players leave the team at years end.
I'm surprised z knows who I am.
When did this happen?
for what it's worth ESPN page shows Landor with a grade of 77 which according to ESPN makes him our higest graded commit.
also currently is the highest rated sunbelt QB commitment and #59 in the country
There are multiple groups that publish rankings of HS Players, none are consistent. Quick examples: Fouquier and St Aug CB are both 3 star on ESPN. Haack is a 3 star on Rivals; 2 star in Scout and not ranked at all in ESPN. In the end, the ranking that matters most is likely outlined somewhere in Hud's office.
Anyone ever notice that after a kid commits to Tech, he's a 3 star within a week on Rivals? Noland went from NR to 3 star being the most recent example. Rivals rankings have serious integrity flaws. Need to trust the coaches assessments, they have the most at stake.
Absolutely right! Where was Ladarius Green on the national rankings as a recruit? Or Charles Tillman? Or Ike "Swaggin'" Taylor? Or Jake Delhomme? Or Brandon Stokley? Etc. I believe all of these commits (or at least nearly all) have been to our camp and our coaches got to see them in person. They have a very good idea how they might fit into our system. I, too, would like to see some of our recruits have 3 or more stars behind their name. But in the end, they all have to come in and play their way onto the field. I believe it was Boise State that built their program on 2 and 3 star recruits. Also I noticed one of LSU's recruits was a 2 star - of course in February that will probably change magically to 3 stars!
I typically look at their other offers.
Whats amazing to me is that there are 6 players listed as high interest with no offers. I don't ever remember skilled players wanting to come here but not having an offer in hand.
Let me add my .02. These players that are commiting were offered by us because our coaching staff has seen them first hand working out ... that has to be better data to use than different ranking systems (which are for us fans to beat our chests for anyway). Also getting commits in early helps persuade others to commit that may be stringing along, Landor himself said so about being able to come in with CJ Bates; they met in a 7 on 7 camp here and know each other are good athletes!
I'm sure there will be scholarships available if that extra prime athlete decides he doesn't like the stringing along at an sec school and wants to go where everything is getting better!
