Sounds like a good one! It's great to be getting in on some of the top local talent and, especially, to get the commitment.

D'Shaie Landor didn't get many offers but I think he's gonna be a good one.

T, how does Landor compare to Haack expectation wise? and are they the same type of QB or do they have different styles?

I remember a QB from Teurlings a few years back who wound up on the big wall behind the student section.

This kid was rated the best at his position at camps he attended this past summer. His size has kept the big boys away(I believe). Cajun T can probably expound on this... This kid can really play. He and Haack are huge for this program.

Let me preface by saying I'm extremely excited. I'm glad to see that we are getting guys. Our two QBs are going to be huge IMO. Not to mention Broadway coming in next year..... WOW.

Our WR from New Iberia.. I haven't seen this kid play but I see we are his only scholarship offer. Can anyone tell me if they have seen him play?

Our offensive line.. three guards and a tackle.. all huge. WOW. All three are over 6'3" and "pushing" 300lbs... WOW.

I guess my main question is only 5 are ranked nationally.... whats the deal?

The kid from New Iberia was hurt for most of his junior season so didn't get a lot of attention but he has great size and blew up the UL camp. Clocked a 4.34 forty at the camp and has great hands, he is still raw but a very fluid athlete that will be a great deep threat.

Cajun Redzone has all the info you need though when it comes to recruiting.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Of our true fresh. that are playing this year, I think only Trae Johnson was ranked. hud is having to find the best of the unnoticed players I guess.

Brooks Haack is 6-2, 190, so he is 2" taller and 20 pounds heavier then D'Shaie Landor. Haack plays under center as much as he does in the Gun or Spread, so he is comfortable dropping back in the pocket as he is rolling out.

D'Shaie Landor is "6-0", 175 pounds, but is a 4.55 kid that mostly plays in the Spread offense. In fact, I don't recall him being under center but a hand full of times the past two years. Doesn't have the five or three step drop down like Haack.

Actually these are fair questions to ask. We(UL) have never been in a situation like this before. At this time of year we usually have 2-4 commits. Obviously you take a highly regarded QB or lineman early because those are the toughest positions for mid-majors to find. But what about a WR, CB, or RB. There are so many players at those positions that have D1A talent. Why not wait on some SEC-type players that the big boys are stringing along right now?

Last year we had nothing going on recruiting wise when the season ended. We (by all accounts) had our best class ever. Most of that was due to Ole Miss, Miss St, and others not having room for them. I am not saying one strategy is better than the other, but having scholly's available late in the recruiting process was a definite advange for us.

I'm sure Hud's plan is to lock down a core group of guys early and hold out a few scholly's for some other big players later in the year.
