Awesome, glad to see someone step up to the plate! Are you strictly sports? or do you do other areas as well? That is b.s. about the lafayette, you need to set them straight! And if you dont mind, find out from your editor the real reason why they use lafayette, I would love to know! good job!

By the way, the version I turned in did not include the word "Lafayette" anywhere. They edited it in.

Nice article Chris I picked up the paper and read that article. I thought it was great overall, not just for a first time article.Originally posted by BabbForHeisman

Great article Chris! There is a Louisiana without the "Lafayette" in the article. Perhaps that one "slipped" by.Originally posted by BabbForHeisman

awesome photos too!
I talked to the editor on Friday, and he couldn't really come up with a good reason, other than "that's the way it was done before me." So I made a few arguments based on the fact that common usage is heading in the direction of "UL" and "Louisiana". He seemed to understand what I was saying and said he would think about it.Originally posted by lxa656

So, not that I would tell anyone to do this, but if anyone feels like it, they could certainly call the vermilion office or write a letter to the editor saying that you noticed outdated and clumsy-sounding references to the university in the paper and that you wish it would change. That might help to change his mind. But don't mention that you know me. I'm the new guy.
