    Great Topic:
    I called VA and David Vitter's office>

According to VA office in town, there will be a Super VA Clinic on the Youngsville Hwy. Lourdes will not be a VA Hospital like I was hoping but One can never know what happens to the Old Lourdes Hospital down the Road. I heard, UL wants some of Lourdes for their College of Nursing.

This area needs a VA Hospital

I am developing/have developed a hate for North Louisiana---They get sooo much more than they deserve-----Untraveled roads come to mind---Va hospital---too many universities---the top 28 -----2 congressmen---We need to stop this and just say no to all they want ---base things on population and taxes that are given to the state treasury!!!!

According to a letter from Secretary Shinseki to Congressman Landry – after the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) researched the current Veteran population and the projected decline over time of Veterans in Southwest Louisiana, a 29,000 square-foot clinic was approved. The clinic was designed “to accommodate services to meet the medical and mental health needs of Veterans in this area.” The clinic is planned to provide primary care, mental health, audiology, physical therapy, and other traditional services. A monthly surgery consultation clinic for diagnostics and follow-up purposes is under consideration.
Not sure, but the above paragraph seems to suggest new construction, but isn't the Southpark Community Hospital on the Youngsville Hwy now closed? Looks larger than 29,000 square feet, but maybe the VHA only approved the use of the first floor for now with the potential to expand to the second floor.

Either way, this is great news for area veterans!
