In Lafayette, entrepreneurs are spending Tuesday evening getting whipped into shape at "First Gear", a business boot camp.
Organizers say business owners are learning recession proof techniques that will take their companies to the next level.
Experts from Opportunity Machine Company and UL's Small Business Development Center are showing them business planning skills and growth techniques.
Aspiring entrepreneurs learned the essentials that are needed to start a business.
Bill Miller with Opportunity Machine says any business can thrive in a tough economic climate as long as it has a solid foundation.
"You must have a good management team, a good idea and money to work with," said Miller.
