Went there today to watch the Ladies hit a few. Really nothing being done. Two working in the suit box pulling wire. Three installing the top row of seats below the suites, pressbox and club house seating. That's it. No brick layers are plumbers. The crew installing the seats suppose to be putting up steel for the roof. Around the concession area it looks deserted. The problem is that they are not paying the workers. I was told by the one that put the seats in the outfied that the contractor that built the forms and poured the concret to set the bleaches on has not been payed yet. This job was started back in May of 2009 when they removed the bleachers. After that the work stopped for about four months because of the old press box and concession stand not being taken down. Some dispute there. So it will be two years on the job in May........if you want to call it on the job.
Is there any recourse that the university can bring upon the contractor for failing to deliver on the contracted work?
I'm confused Frenchie. I think we are both in agreement that the renovation will NOT start at the end of this season.
My understanding is that track & field along with the new weight room are priorities. T&F is a must due to gender equity issues. Once those are completed then we can move forward with baseball. I believe end of the 2012 season would be the goal to start construction.
All I am saying is that someone in the AD department said that it had to be started and finish by the time we host the SBC tournment because of the pressbox not being adequate. And the start time was at the end of this season. I am like you. When they start I will believe..........One of the reason I don't think it will be started this year is that they have not release anything to the media like drawings and plans like they did for softball. And look at the softball situation. Just a little note: All the things I post about the softball stadium and little about baseball is not something that I think is happening. I live walking distance from the fields. I go about every other day and check on what's going on and talk to someone in charge of the project. What I post is coming directly from their mouth. If anyone knows it should be them. So this information is not from someone off the street. So I believe some truth in it.....
So the heavy equiptment should be moving in on May 16.
The stadium is set to start construction the day after our last game in 2012, with completion for the 2013 season (the year we host the conference tournament).
