Agreed, he should have been let go. They could have went out and hired an interim for next season while raising funds for a new coach. Hell, they have 2 in state coaches that they could probably afford to take from their respective programs MSU and Southern.

UL could win and win big just like MTSU, hell just like J Kelly Hall did, if we had the right coach.

I'm going to throw up a little bit of a hell mary here. Pure speculation and not that I agree with it.

It has already been discussed that with all the other stuff going on that Scott Farmer has his hands full and it would be difficult to do a large scale search like what was done for football and men's basketball at this time.

Maybe they decide to ride it out another year to allow for a proper search and potentially raise some funds. We are in major fund raising mode in so many other areas that it might not be the best time to go hit major donors up about women's basketball.

Any coach we bring on will want a multi year contract which locks us in for at least three years. Do we want to do that in a rush and on a short budget?

Yes and there is another year going by ln bringing in inferior talent and bringing the respect of the program even lower---Oh I am signing with McNeese --they are a better program---This is crazy and obvious we signed the wrong guy!!!!

  4. UL Basketball UL decides to retain Rogers

UL interim director of athletics Scott Farmer will retain head women's basketball coach Errol Rogers for the 2011-12 season. The Ragin' Cajuns completed their fourth year under Rogers at 11-19 overall and 4-12 in Sun Belt action following a 58-53 loss to ...

I wish Scott Farmer would have put something else on his resume as his first interim AD move.

Or in this case, non move. Dumb.

Coach Rogers did sign Brooklyn Arceneaux of STM. She led her team to the 5A state championship this year and she made the 5A All State team. He also signed a highly sought after girl from Florida. I don't think he is bringing in inferior talent. Now, I am not saying I agree with the decision. I just don't think you can say he has recruited poorly for the upcoming year. Now will he be able to help them improve once they get here? That is a different question and his track record is suspect in that regard.

    How ridiculous.

Even better, Arceneaux was named 5A MVP

It would be if people cared more about women's basketball.

    But they don't.

What's ridiculous is our lack of support. It's a true chicken/egg problem.

And I say this as being part of the problem.

Until we support that team like we support the others, Rogers is exactly the coach we deserve.

And that's all there is to say about that.

Farmer may be looking at the way the team responded this year and improved. Sure, the wins were only improved by a couple but I think the team played much better and responded better than in the past. This decision will likely not be a very popular one but as mentioned, he seems to be bringing in some talent and that may be worth another year to see how things go. I would prefer to see coach Broadhead here but I also understand the lack of wanting to hire someone with no head experience.
