Scattered showers remain in the forecast for Acadiana's Mardi Gras with stormy weather again possible for the area later Tuesday night into early Wednesday.
A storm system moving into the Plains States tonight will induce surface cyclogenisis (low pressure) near the Oklahoma/Texas Panhandle early Tuesday allowing for windy conditions and mostly cloudy skies across Acadiana for Mardi Gras.
Gusty southerly winds will also be ushering in increased moisture with scattered quick-moving showers possible just about any time during the day. Increasing rain chances should begin to develop shortly after the last parade rolls in Lafayette.
The Storm Prediction Centercontinues to keep Acadiana hatched in for a slight risk of severe weather late tomorrow into the pre-dawn hours Wednesday. If severe storms do develop the main modes of severe weather would be damaging winds and/or isolated tornadoes.
Therefore, a tornado watch will more than likely be issued for the area as early as late Tuesday afternoon, but mostly likely for Tuesday evening through very early Wednesday.
In addition, locally heavy rainfall will be possible with 1-2" likely area-wide with up to 3-4" possible toward the New Orleans area.
Storms should end around daybreak Wednesday with more sedate and favorable conditions expected for the rest of the week into the weekend.
