Some other stats on the day:
Murphy 0-4 with 4 K's. Not a good day.
Bridges was 3-3
Orgeron was 1-4 with a HR and extends her hitting streak
Granger was 4-4. She was huge in this tournament

Apparently our performance wasn't good enough to keep Alabama from earning the tournament title. I can't find anything showing how they determined the winner but the Alabama media reports that they are the tournament champions.
That's strange.

Good weekend for the Cajuns! Judi Garman will be a huge test. What a schedule

Especially when Illinois is the only undefeated team remaining (4-0) with one game remaining (vs. Oregon). Note that Illinois has not had a strong tournament schedule thus far (no UL, no Alabama, no Virginia, no Notre Dame). They did play Fordham with Oregon remaining.
The media report I saw only mentions that "Alabama wins Citrus Classic" in the headline. It is not mentioned in the body of the report. I wonder if they omitted the word "finale" in the headline ... as in "Top-ranked Alabama softball wins Citrus Classic finale".

Now, if Illinois were to lose to Oregon, a three-way tie at 4-1 would need to be broken. Head-to-head could not be used. Thus, the tiebreaker might resort to record against common opponents. The only common opponent among the three would be Oregon. In this situation, Alabama would win the tournament title.

... and Oregon defeated Illinois today 2-1.
That leaves UL, Alabama, and Illinois all tied at 4-1. Since it is a three-way tie and each team did not play each other team head-to-head, a reasonable tiebreaker is record among common opponents. The only common opponent is Oregon. Thus, Alabama would claim the title.
Regardless, it makes no difference. The Lady Cajuns accomplished much with wins over Alabama and Virginia. They also continued to develop their freshman pitchers.
