Actually, I think they got pretty much all of their practice in today while the weather was still good. I went and watched a little bit of it and they usually come use the gym at Bourgeois when it rains but they didn't come in so the coaches must feel that they are ready.

On a side note, I have really enjoyed watching Wes Simon grow into his positiion at LB here at UL. He looked really good again as usual at practice today. For a guy that graduated a year behind me at ND and played the secondary positions weighing in at around 165 he has really transformed into a solid and consistent UL LB. Bustle could use some more ND "rice fed, rice bred" boys, especially on the O and D lines. Them boys pack a punch. Not to mention they've had an excellent coach for four years.

In the last 24 hours the temp got down to a record low 26 degrees. As I looked at that number I noticed the previous record was 29 and part of me says useless information but it sure is cold.

But then it dawns on me, WHAT A FANTASTIC WEEKEND FOR RECROUXTING.

I can hear the coaches now . . . 'it sure is cold but check out this fine indoor facility you will be practicing in when you become a University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajun.'

  3. Default Indoor facility starts to take shape

Now that construction at UL’s indoor practice facility has reached a stage where the building’s length and width are becoming visible, it’s much easier to see how impressive a facility this will be when completed this spring.

One end of the giant building, the one closest to the Cajun Courts tennis facility, has all the supports in place and the roof beams spanning the walls. The side-wall construction has a skeleton that goes to the opposite end of the structure that will eventually house a full-size football field.

It’s a big building when viewed from the context of other structures in and nearby the Cajuns’ athletic complex. It’s even bigger when you’re standing next to one of the beams that supports the side walls.

I also had a chance to drive by on the 24th (was in town for christmas). It is indeed impressive. Much larger looking in person than the pictures would seem to indicate. For you local folks - keep posting updates. This is an exciting time for Ragin Cajun athletics!

The size is probably beyond the minds eye. A person really needs to see it up close and personal.
