Indoor Practice Facility

April 3rd, 2006 @ 8a.m. will be the Ground Breaking for the University of Louisiana's Indoor Practice Facility!!! It will have the 120 yard field with areas in each end zone for Hitting and Pitching for both Baseball and Softball and also being built at this time is the Basketball Practice facility!!!!

The meeting with the Contractor and ALL the subs went great this past Monday April 27th said one UL official!

This is great as long as our administration realizes that this is a starting point, not a finish line.

It may SEEM that way after how long this has been talked about.

Awesome news. I think the biggest impact it will have will be on football and basketball recruits. A state of the art practice facility speaks volumes for the support our athletic programs have from the university and the supports of our school.

I heard a rumor yesterday that the practice facility will also lore the Saints training camp here. Any truth to that?

Not so sure that would be a good deal for us. While it might help get them here for a couple days (black and gold scrimmage, etc); it makes no sense to move their entire camp here when they have outstanding facilities on Airline Dr. Besides, do we really want to put that much wear and tear on our fields? Sure, we might get some new weight room stuff; but is it really worth it in the long run?

It would be a good deal for us if they paid us for use of the facility. Advantage for them would be they would be getting away from home during camp. That is why teams leave-too many distractions. Right now they put players up in hotels during the early weeks of camp.

Thanks Turbine! Does everyone know how this is going to help recruiting in ALL sports having this indoor facility so that teams can recruit better and practice no matter almost any weather.

Only the second one in the state! And the Weightroom is next!!
