HOUSTON - Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun golf team, hampered by bad weather conditions for much of their spring preseason preparations, will nevertheless open their 2005 spring season today and Tuesday in the annual Rice Intercollegiate Invitational.

The two-day event at the Wildcat Golf Club has a 15-team field that includes Memphis, DePaul, Sam Houston State, Texas State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas-San Antonio, Texas-Arlington, Texas-Pan American, North Texas, San Diego, La. Tech, Army, Nebraska and the host Owls.

The Cajuns had a pair of top-five finishes in its five fall tournaments, but UL coach Bob Bass said he'd like to have more time for his squad to ready itself for the spring.
