Thread: How did the Lady Cajuns drop to 9th

  1. UL Softball How did the Lady Cajuns drop to 9th

Louisiana' Softball squad started the season ranked 7th in the nation and have not allowed a single run in winning their first 3 games of the season, but . . .

Louisiana's SID department is reporting they are ninth-ranked.

What am I missing or what did I miss?

It really does not matter, unlike NCAA football Division I, they determine it on the field.

Actually, LSU backers in the state senate pressured the polling body to drop UL from 7 to 9 so that LSU could be ranked ahead. The only way UL will ever be allowed to be ranked at #7 is if the Cajuns are able to partner up with another school, at which time the two schools will be able to attain the rankings 7a and 7b. But of course, this is only allowed if LSU has moved up to #6.

    I'm sorry, was that sarcastic?

    9th might be a misprint.

9th is where UL was ranked the first week of the 2004 ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate
    Top 25 Poll

This year the Lady Cajuns are ranked 7th in the first 2005 ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate
    Top 25 Poll

What's with Lafayette girls signing to play with Oklahoma???

I know about Jamie Fox from Acadiana going there, but didn't know about Tayl'r Hollis from STM signing at OU.

Hey, the Sooners know where the hot bed of softball talent is! It is no coincidence that UL and, now, LSU are highly ranked. Most of the players on both squads are from south LA.

They reported the same thing (ranked 9th) on Sat night's sprots on KATC. I also questioned how we dropped two spots without losing.

I think the two diff. rankings are because there were two diff. polls, kinda the same way there's the AP Top 25 & ESPN/USA Today Top 25 in Men's Basketball.

    God Bless.
