Thread: Who will replace coach Clay Jennings

Jennings and Gibson were both class acts. Jennings will be a great coach in the future, and Coach Gibson was appreciated by all the players. Ask any OLineman... its gonna be hard to replace his intensity. Plus, he was a great Pride team coach {punt}.

I think the head coach at Northside High would make a good college assistant coach.

  3. Default Ron Hudson

Is this the new O-Line coach?

    Ron Hudson

"Three of his former pupils have moved on to the National Football League. Jason Gavadza, Dan Goodspeed and Joey Knapp have all made the move to the pros after working with Hudson." Here is his last job LINK

It wouldn't hurt to have an o-line coach with connections in Ohio and Pa. That area is like a Garden of Eden of o linemen.

SNote and I met Ron on Saturday morning. Coach Bustle was touring him around Lafayette. But I thought he was "D", not "O".

If he knows Ohio, that would be great for us because unfortunantly the one thing Louisiana doesn't produce is a large number of qaunlity lineman. We have all the skill guys but it just seems like our stock in O-lineman are low. The really big guys that come from German and Norwegian decent are mainly up north and thats what we need those big powerful lineman that can move and be athletic. So that would be a big pick up for us.

I like that. Kind of captures two ideas in one word. We need both, quantity and quality.

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . .

We got a couple this year, but we'll definitely need some more next year.

  10. Default Terry Sims

Can't vouch for anything except I heard this name and this is what I found. Sounds like a good UL fit for DB coach.

Terry Sims is married to Joyce Sims and they have one daughter, Sierra. He is also a member of Omega Psi Phi. Does UL still have an Omega Psi Phi?

Sims played defensive back at Knoxville College and was Team Captain.

In 1994, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

In 1997 he received a master’s degree in education.

In 1997 (perhaps before) Terry Sims was a graduate assistant and coached the defensive backs at the University of Louisville.

In 1998 he coached the linebackers at Knoxville College.

In 1999 Terry Sims was coaching worked with the running backs at Austin Peay State University.

For 2000 and at least through 2001 (perhaps longer) Terry Sims was coaching Defensive Backs at Texas Southern. Where he was also "Recruiting Coordinator" LINK

At the end of his stint at TSU he was listed as Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Backs LINK

2004 (perhaps before) but after TSU, Terry Sims coached Defensive Backs at Prarie View A&M LINK

Wish I could say more. Don't need to ruin my relationship and trust developed with staff. There will be some surprises in the year(s) to come that you will understand when they happen.

Coach Sims appears to have a nice little resume'. In particular, I like that he coached DB's at Louisville. I think this is shaping up into one of the best, if not THE best, coaching staff this program's ever had.
