I compiled a list of state D1 and sun belt schools and there ranking on rivals. We still have two scholarship to give out also.

    24 LSU
    70 Troy
72 Louisiana Ragin Cajuns the 11 highest rated non BCS team
    75 Middle Tenn
    85 Arkansas ST.
    93 N. Tex
    93 La Tech
    100 Tulane
    101 La. Monroe
Fla Int. and Fla Atl. not rated at all

We were ranked higher than 3 BCS teams: Vandy, Indiana, and U Conn.

We were ranked higher than 9 Conf. USA

Go Cajuns and Go Sun Belt

I was looking at the RIVALS RANKING numbers on the right side of the stars and this year they add up to 102, which is the same number as last year except move the decimal point over to the right one notch. Last year it was 10.2

Actually in 2004 (there is a link on that page) they only compiled the RR for 2 players. This year all but 4 were compiled.

So my question is; is Rivals doing a better job of covering players or are these a higher caliber of player?

It may be that rivals is doing a better job of covering these players. I have kept up with rivals and in the past very few of our signings were preranked. After signing day everyone who is not JC will get 2 stars. The difference this year almost everyone of our commitments were preranked at 2 or 3 stars. This says that these players names were already on rivals radar screen and probaley were recruited by the larger conf. schools first. I still prefer to rank our class by which schools had offered or at lest had strong intrest in our players. This is where I saw the biggest difference. Many of these players were recruited by BCS schools and some were offered, but we out recruited them. Go Cajuns.

I wouldn't worry to much about where we are ranked on any recruiting site. Look at fresno state they contend every year with the big boys and they have never had a top 50 recruiting class. I think the big thing for us to look at is the quality of the programs that were recruiting the guys we got.

Once again, hats off to Coach Bustle and his staff! I see a bright future for this program. I hope (and think) this may be the year we can translate our recruiting success to on the field success. I believe with one winning season, some BIG TIME (4 star type) recruits will start to take notice.

Yeah, these rankings are fun to look at but it is probably better to look at it from a who's who angle. Note also that the rankings are based on total points so a team that happens to have 33 scholarships to give gets a few extra points on quantity, but may not necessarily have much quality.

With 3 stud running backs and a nationally ranked QB in hand, maybe we should consider the wishbone?? Hee Hee.....(on one highlight film it looked like Hundley threw a 70 yard pass & it looks like he runs pretty good to)

Most national recruiting sites are "pay for play" sites and if you send in video and pay the fees, you get better stars - assuming a base ability to start. Only the true "blue chips" on those sites are legit ratings and often there are many more sleepers at two stars than at 3 or 4 stars. Getting the word out on recruits has become big business. I agree that you must look at the other schools recruiting a young man - regardless of what position he plays / is expected to play. Many of the UL recruits were recruited all other the south / east US and that is very promising.

Is there a list out there with all of our recruits and the other schools that were recruiting them??

DaddyCajun excited and proud of our recruiting class. I want to thank ALL who donated to the recruiting fund, bought season tickets, help with projects, donate to projects and of course "the COACHES"!!!!!!!
