Thread: Cajuns FB Helmets

This is a GREAT IDEA Cajuns FB Helmets

The current helmet stickers are some of the best looking logos on a NCAA helmet. I am still a fan of just Cajuns, but our current logo is the best yet. I believe it is so good that if UL public relations would ever see this, they would realize they have a logo to establish with the university. All these circles, and peppers and ways of writing Ragin' Cajuns 20 different ways do not give us a branded mark recognizable by others. There are to many variations of our image and the absolute best one is the one they want to stay away from. The curved Ragin' Cajuns isn't on any apparel, stickers, FLAGS, or anything. We are the only school in div 1-a that doesnt have our football helmet logo on a hat. How does public relations think they are doing a good job of branding an image across the nation when the football helmets logo, the most seen representation of a university, isn't allowed to be printed. Are they really thinking thats the right thing to do, when our Circle, Circle? logo has Ragin' Cajuns written like a smile. The font is great, and the fleur-de-lis is excellent. Do away with these peppers and circles. The fleur-de-lis with its flames and the curved Ragin' Cajuns go very well together, but not all this pepper junk. The curve could be incorporated into every sports uniform. (Our uniforms are billboards for the universtiy, they are advertisement) It could be put on the front of the batter's helmet for baseball and on their sleeves. The sides of the shorts for basketball. What would you rather, the curved Ragin' Cajuns helmet logo, or the circle logo on the front of a polo shirt. Instead, public relations doesn't want to mix up our image. I mean, are they joking? There are so many variations of Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns on everything and they could completely resolve this mess with the adaptation of our helmet logo to represent all athletics and become the officially unified brand of UL. Furthermore, the fleur-de-lis which represents athletics in silver and gray with yellow flames - yellow, when was this a school color? and also represents academics in vemillion and black, could merge and completely unify the University of Louisiana. Example - Texas "Longhorn", "Miami U", and Southern Cal's "SC". A vermillion and black fleur-de-lis with vermillion flames outlined. It wouldn't go change our helmet but the fleur-de-lis with the curved Ragin' Cajuns laid across it would look pretty damn good next to the score bar on the bottom of games being televised NATIONALLY! Take the Ragin' Cajuns off and you have your academics visual identification, all in school's colors. Remove the fleur-de-lis and you have our football helmet. UL wants to begin a traditional image with the school and this new font and fleur-de-lis are it, they just need to bring the two together and get rid of all that other mess.

    My opinion,

Personally, I love to see new designs. I like to have a variety of Cajun t-shirts, etc. Not the SAME thing over & over again.
Sounds like you had a lot on your mind. RAGIN' CAJUNS alone ITSELF is a recognizable mark, nationally. That name cannot be contested by any other school. You wanna talk about not being recognized by others? FYI, we have been voted with the #1 nickname in the country for our college. 1 design or 20, we'll be recognized just by our awesome name.

Boooooo I tell you what, damn right you dirtyphi, you tell em how you feel and the fleur-de-lis does sound like a good idea, but remember this damn school never makes it mind up about any damn thing, all we can do is keep complaining about how sorry everything is. I think we should put the Captain Morgan logo on our helmets, he is always havin a good time.

  5. UL Football

Nothin is sorry about Ull. It takes time to get things done and more things have gotten done in the past 3 years since i have been here than have been done in awhile. You have to realize that. Technically speaking we are so far behind it gonna take time. Me i personally like the 3 fleur-de-leis with the single white stripe however the curved cajuns is good too it is like none other in d-1 football. Its not the logo on the helmets that create hard hits and championships, etc., it is the person/team wearing it. They do/did make shirts with the curved logo i think we got it from follets on campus or u might check the university bookstore(however dont know if they still have it) i have one in my closet. Just keep supporting us we are closer than u think

I kinda know alot about this and trust me the reason why we don't have Ragin Cajuns (curved) on alot more apparel isn't because we don't want to put it on there. Its a legal matter I can't say the exact legal thing restricting us from using it because honestly its really confusing. It was explained to me once and my head was swimming and I still was like, now why can't we use the arch on more shirts as our logo?

All I know is the last peice of merchandise that we were able to print Ragin Cajuns (curved) on were our hats, which in my opinion was the best looking that they ever produced,(well I am kinda partial to the interlocking UL hats too). I'm sure they have many pictures of coach wearing it on the sidelines. I also love the arch and think it is our best logo. I have brought up maybe dressing the helmet up more, but when I gave it a shot it didn't work. I used other decals from other schools (like not there logo but like stripes and stickers and stuff) and just tryed them out and they didn't work. Like how Louisville has that stripe down the helmet thats pointed, I though that might look good, but it was way too cluttered with the big arch. I went through alot of submissions and in the end I finished with what I started with. Also the peppers that they put on the back of the helmets look good. I think the peppers are the only thing that really dresses up the helmet with out making everything seem too crowded.

The helmet logo and helmet color we wear now is the best. I even tested it.

I am definitely not saying to change or alter our helmet in any way. The helmet is what I believe the basis of our logo should stem from. I am saying that UL should build on this format and elaborate on it for an excellent logo by bringing in another one of our symbols, the fleur-de-lis to inc. everything as an athletics logo that would just need Ragin' Cajuns removed for academics. Once we stick with one logo, yes we will be more recognized even with the same amount of success. Stay with this helmet, no changes.

DomeBound - Boy i tell you, what about your Captain Morgan on the helmet for big hits/plays stickers on the back.

I say that UL should represent Cajuns, and Cajun Culture so I say if you want people to see where the Cajuns came from I think we should Incorporate the Acadian Flag from Nova Scotia which is the French Flag and the yellow star in the blue top part of the flag, and then we can put a logo in the middle of the flag. So that way people know where The Cajuns came from. May not be the best idea but a Idea.

I do think our logo I think has to be something dealing with this part of the country, and something that can represent the Cajuns of South Louisiana. or any cajun for that manner. I think the University should research and find the best logo that represents this part of the country and make it the standard logo for most of the things. The Fleur-dis-lis only accomplishes part of the solution, I think the University needs to come up with something more original. I think the University can comeup with somthing better then the 3 (fleur-dis-lis) that will satisfy almost everyone, it is out there, something that can give us National Prestige and keep the uniqueness of our culture

Come on guys, let's leave the flowers off the helmets. They are everywhere else already and that's fine by me.
