UL Football Sampy Will be Back

This is great news. This was probley my biggist wish for any one player this offseason. With the lost of Smothers, Crist, and Lewis to graduation; we could not afford to lose the best of the bunch in Sampy. Although we have 3 talented receivers with great size in RS sophmores Jackson, Givens, and Robbins; they are still inexperinced at this point. We also have a JC receiver coming in which will help early on. I believe by the time conference rolls around the receiving core will be a strengh to this team.

Hopefully someone else will step up to be a playmaker such as Sampy.

How is that? Robbins and Givens both played this past season (Givens 3 catches, and Robbins 1) so both should be sophomore's next season. Eddie Brown was the only receiver I know of that redshirted this past season.

They will both be sophmores...Givens played a little bit more but robbins had his catch i believe in the Idaho game.

I forgot about Eddie Brown. This guy orginally signed with O.K. St. 2 years ago and was rated a 3 star WR by rivals.com. I believe he never enrolled at O.K. St. and signed with us last year and indeed did RS last year. So he should be a RS Freshman. Another big and talented WR.

Sampy must pass his classes this semester, which he is and a few in the Summer!

I stand corrected. I was thinking about Eddie Brown, not Robbins. Sorry!

The guy in your post (displayed photo) is the guy who needs to be catching footballs---D Mitchell would be the greatest TE or slot, or WR there could be.

I was thinking the same thing just the other day; "D Mitchell maybe playing football next year". If he does not receive another year of eligibility to play basketball, and if he plans on staying in school, he should still have a year to play football. I have heard he was a pretty good player in high school. With his size, quickness, and jumping ability he would make a tremendous pass catching tightend. That is if he can catch. Its been a few years now, but some may remember Chris Snowden played basketball and then 1 year of football. They have similar build with Mitchell being a little bigger. Just a thought.
