Wow, you didn't get the joke? and it's not the end of the world apparently you don't remember in 2007 we lost to Alcorn State and a few weeks later beat #2 Arizona State

like I said, if we go 5-0 next weekend no one will still be worrying that we lost to Southern, except of course, you.

You're right. But the softball teams over the years have had a tendency to lose focus and lose to a team or teams to which they should not lose. Never this early.

First road game of the season, had the game in hand until 2 hit batsmen and an error did us in. Let's look at a few scenarios:

    1. We lose to Southern, then procede to beat Alabama and maybe Oregon (picking these two because they are both top 25) next weekend. I think people would realize we have a decent team.

    2. We lose to Southern, then lose to both Alabama and Oregon. People will not care that we lost to Southern because it wouldn't matter because we couldn't beat quality opponents either. Moot point.

    3. We beat Southern (as should be expected), then lose to both Alabama and Oregon. Again, people will not care because we had a great record coming in and didn't stand up well against quality opponents.

If we do what we need to do next weekend and throughout the rest of the season, this Southern game shouldn't hurt. If anything I bet it will help the team

Not saying I like it, just moving on..

    Little of both...plus hit batters.

Hey it gave the the local tanktoppers something to chirp about on the DA website. They have had to endure weeks of nothing but stories of success by UL's basketball team and the softball team for weeks now. Some tanktop tool calling himself "colonel2008" (I wonder of that means he graduated from Nicholls like world famous tanktop fan Big Ragoo?) had to chime in on the softball loss in response to the story about the basketball team and in the story about the bus accident with the erroneous headline. So maybe it was a charity loss to keep the local tanktoppers from jumping off the Basin Bridge.

I thought that they didn't care about softball? It will be interesting to see what the national polls do because of this loss. I think that you'll see the perception of the Cajuns. UCLA loses and they only drop 1 spot.

Here is why YOU should care. At the end of the season UL is looking for a national seed, the committee looks at UL and sees good wins, and bad loses. Bad lose number one SU was 1-10 at the meeting. You can bet that will not go unnoticed.

We have been placed in a weak softball conference and we don't get as many opportunites to beat the good teams as in the past. The team really needs to take care of business against bad teams which SU truly is at this point.

Sleep well ULforLife. You are correct. The greatest teams in softball, like baseball, can quite easily drop a game to a lesser program. It happens all of the time and because of that, this loss to Southern does not spoil the season. It gives the coaches 10x the power now to get the focus on every single hard practice, etc, etc. For people to act like this is substantial is stupid. It is not like a powerhouse football program dropping one of 12 regular season games to an underdog. With a lot of the season left, and much better programs yet to be faced, you can all but obliterate this loss.

The biggest "stupid" for those squawking about it is... it's a pimple and it is gone.
