I wasn't there, but watched on Ragin Station. There were a LOT of fanatics at the game last night. The crowd was going absolutely nuts. It was a sight I've not seen in a loooong time.

A friend of mine that lives on the wrong side of the Atchafalaya Basin called me yesterday to tell me that UL basketball was the big talk on the b.r. sports radio station!! Can you believe that??? The high & mighty talking about the peasants of UL (thats what they call us).
Talk was also that Bob Marlin will be getting calls from bigger schools at the end of the season and won't be in Lafayette next year. They are showing their lack of intelligence again because rarely do coaches leave after one year, and with a win tonight gives him a .500 record. He has shown he is a good coach but i don't see him leaving after one year.
Still, it is nice to see that the purple & puke are taking notice of us!!!
I don't see him leaving at all, if we continue to improve and fan support grows. Look the RCAF dished out a lot of cash to get Marlin here and if he is as successful as I think he will be then 6-7K for a Thursday game and 8-10K for a Sat home game will become the norm.
Once that occurs then UL will have the money to give him a substantial raise and it will be hard to beat the atmosphere at UL. We must remember that UL is a basketball school. It always has been. We lose fans in football to LSU, but in basketball that is not the case. This program is taking off on a rocketship. If HUD can succeed then you will see what type of support will carry over to every other sport.
Whether you get 8k or 6k or even 4k, this team needs some type of post season play. You have a future conference star that needs the seasoning. I look for Marlin to get a couple of big post up guys next year. They will need leadership. A lot of that leadership will come from JJ THomas. This guy needs post season pressure this year, while he doesn't have real strong post up help. This will make him way better in the future when he does have that help.
Besides, this team could play Slippery Rock on a Sunday night right now & most likely draw 6K, especially if the beat ULM & do anything in the tourey.
Never turn down post season play, no matter the cost.

Turbine's right. Did I say that????????????
I disagree with those who say the cajundome would be empty. I fully believe that we'd have no less than 6000 for this game at the cajundome. It may be a tourney that no one has heard about, but it seems like Lafayette has really rallied around this basketball team, and I think they would support them in whatever they did.
