Jay said 16-14 won't get us a NIT bid earlier on 1420. 16-14 would mean we win out and lose in Conf. Finals to whoever, and that if we lost to FAU in finals that the BID to the NIT does not go to US.

These r the other two tourneys. Would think we have a shot based on attendance if we can get to a winning record.

I swear I heard Jay or Josh talk about this saying that if FAU won the reg season (done) and won the tournament, the NIT bid goes to the next in line for the regular season title. Anyway, I can't find anything on that. NIT bids seem to be non-Big Dance reg season champs + whoever the committee wants. Espn no longer has any say in selections so that means less bad big conference teams. Also, no requirement any more to be .500 but no sub .500 teams have ever made it.

Where did you hear Bob Marlin say that? Maybe there's a memorandum of understanding I don't know about between the Sun Belt and the NIT that I don't know about. But the NIT claims we need 17, or the memorandum of understanding is void....rats. Guess we'll just have to go and win the tourney then.
Auto bids to the NIT are not determined during the conference tournament. They're determined by the regular season champions. The NIT put in the rule to assure that conference regular season champions get to play in the post-season if they get bounced from the tourney. Bob Marlin may know something I don't know about how attractive UL is for an at-large NIT bid, but I assure you that FAU is the only one with a shot at an auto bid.
Anyway, I don't care about all of this, because there's only one tournament I want to be in. I was just curious what Bob Marlin meant. It was strange.
Where did you hear that? No mention on NIT site or the wiki page. Theres no record limit in place. Definitely nothing about a runner up conference champ either. If a reg season champ makes it to the NCAA tournament, it opens another at large bid up. Otherwise, there would be a team from each of the 31 conferences and one extra at large.

I was joking. See Bowl debacle from a couple years ago. No, technically NIT can take a zero win team if they want. They put in this auto bid to legitimize their money grab (errrrrrrrr post-season tournament).
The NIT is basically a fancy lower-tier bowl system. That's all. With that said, I won't turn down an invite unless I earn a spot in the big dance.
Still wondering what in the world BM was talking about though...
