Thread: UL vs Nicholls St. Part II

  1. #1

Default UL vs Nicholls St. Part II

After 2 innings, UL is up 1-0. UL got their run in the 2nd without a hit. UL was hit by a pitch and was walked 3 times.

So far UL has 1 hit and it is by Leonards to open the game.

Nicholson is looking good so far on the mound and has only given up 1 hit and has 3 K's.

Cajuns give up a run in the bottom of the 3rd on a poorly executed pickle between 3rd and home when we had the runner hung up. Sinclair was called for obstruction and the runner was allowed to score.

Nicholls St. gets their 2nd run of the inning on a sac fly.

    Nicholls St. 2-1.

    Top of 4th

Bourque leads off the inning with a bunt single and advances to 2nd on throwing error.

Not sure why Robe has Fontenot bunting but he sac bunts Bourque to 3rd.

Goulas doubles home Bourque. Game tied 2-2. Goulas then gets thrown out stealing. Jay said he hesitated before taking off. Another base running error by the Cajuns. Way to many this season so far. Cajuns are 1 for 7 on stolen bases this season.

    Sinclair flies out.

    Game tied 2-2 after 3 1/2 innings.

I thought I heard Jay say that he got thrown out when he tried to advance on a passed ball, not caught stealing. In either case, you're right...can't make this many base running errors. They've been playing this game way too long for it not to be instinct by now. It's probably just beginning of the season rust.

Leonards gets on by error. Steals 2nd on a ball thrown in the dirt.

    Fredricks gets by walk.

    UL gets nothing else going.

Still tied 2-2. UL has only 3 hits through 5 innings.

The lack of offense and poor base running so far this season is pretty sad.

Nicholson looks pretty damn good, he gets ahead of hitters well.

If we continue to find ways to win despite these shortcomings, when the offense does wake up; we SHOULD be tough to beat when everything comes together.
