Thread: Bring Back the Catfish Plate

Default Bring Back the Catfish Plate

Does each program get to choose the concessions served during the games, or is it a bulk contract with the entire athletic department. A couple of years ago, we used to be able to get a great catfish plate at the Tigue for a reasonable price. Now all we have is an nasty philly cheese steak or an overpriced burger from the angriest bald man I have ever met. Not only that, but the beer prices have gone up every year substantially. I do not mind paying for a little entertainment, but a weekend at the Tigue can put a dent in your pocketbook.

FYI, I am glad that we can bicker over this instead of the lack of success of our sports programs.

I 2nd that. I loved a good catfish or shrimp platter, especially during Lent. The concessions are nothing but overpriced crap now.

    GEAUX UL!

I'll pay $20 for a cold beer at the games if need be, same goes for the fresh roasted peanuts.

When the burger man came in the fish, shrimp and french fry man had to leave. His set up was still at the park during a game and I asked him what was the problem and why he was leaving. He said in so may words that they was kicking him out........

wait....angry bald man didn't cook the fish. He couldn't come close to making something that good. The fish and shrimp was done right, by someone local. I use to bring my own seasoning in a zip lock baggy to make the cheese steak/hamburgers edible. Absolutely NO seasoning on that meat when they cook it. You can't come to South La. from Kansas or where ever the hell he is from and cook stuff with no seasoning. I've tried to tell him that..........he got angry.

But I'm with ya, bring back the fish peeps.

Have u gotten a chance to check out the price of fuel lately? Everything is exspensive. U want better programs here at UL...it all comes at a cost. It takes money to win. We are starting to spend a little money on coaches, facitilies, etc etc. It takes money from the fans to do such.

I still remember being at one of the first baseball games when they started selling the catfish plates. Absolutely delicious! I wouldn't buy anything else to eat there after that.

We were told when Sodexo came in that the concessions would be so much better in all sports, but they have just gotten worse. All we have gotten is more expensive crap. You know it's bad when you order nachos and they give you a bag of chips and a cup of cheese. The only things we buy at games are Mr. Vicks peanuts, popcorn at basketball games (sometimes) and one or two beers at baseball. We don't buy beer at football and we used to buy two at basketball (one per half) but they have gotten so expensive and one or two at baseball. We much rather eat some where afterwards.

At least the burger's have improved some by moving to the other grill. Much better than they were last year coming off that George Foreman type grill press. And I have not had a hot beer yet this year, unlike last year when it was coming out of the tap warm every other game.

I have to agree, that is called chips and dip, NOT nachos
