The overpriced philly cheese "steak" is also not very good. It's top sirloin (crappy meat) with way too many onions and bellpeppers, (prob to hide the lack of meat) melted cheese, with little to no seasoning, on a po-boy bun.

The Philly cheese steaks were awesome 2 years ago when they first did them, but last year they started skimping on the meat and seasoning. Last year when I got one it was nothing but onions, bell peppers and the gross oil that the cook kept doucing my sandwich with. Barf

I love the Tigue and will prob buy peanuts and a beer every time I'm there, but the rest of the food leaves a lot to be desired.[/QUOTE]

Don't hate me, but I like the Abita Amber on tap. _
what?..how can too much beef be a bad thing... I don't get it... also, I like the amber too... I think that jambalaya would sell well.. If it was done right that is..

They need to do something about the food. I mean, they keep wanting to attract students to go to events, but we're not usually that monetarily endowed. We can't afford to spend $30 on up for food and beer!

I know this is off topic, because it's not about food at The Tigue, but there's a place that opened up by campus called CT Seafood & Grill. (It's by the Petroleum Club) It's like Chinese and American food. I got a three piece chicken tender combo with fried rice and an order of crab rangoon for like, eight bucks. It's perfect college food. It's not the best, but it's good, and you get a TON of food. There's more food in the 3 tender combo than in a Caniac from Cane's. It's crazy.

Those cheesesteaks and burgers aren't very good and way too expensive. I can't afford much more than a beer and bag of peanuts at the game.

On the Mr Bitter Show, Coach Robichaux said ballparks should have signature food that fits the area they are located in.

Boy he either missed the boat on that one, or he is trying to get a point across to whoever does the catering.

Rice does it. They have a really nice area down the 3rd base line, which is the only area in the park where beer is sold. It's a larger, mostly covered, "patio" area where you can stand around, eat a bit, visit with friends, etc, while still being able to watch the game (it's similar to what McNeese has down the 3B line, for those of you who have been there, only a lot nicer). I think they have the traditional ballpark style of concessions down there, but they also sell Prince's Hamburgers, which is kind of an "establishment" type of place in Houston, similar to what Judice Inn is in Lafayette, and the whole area is a big hit. I'm really hoping that something like this can/will be included in the renovations of Tigue Moore.

I agree with all that Sodexho sucks at everything they do. They are like the Purple Haze of catering companies.

There are several things to consider when thinking about the prices at the ball park. Sodexho owns the catering and concession rights for all UL events, with the exception of basketball, since it is in the Cajundome. Sodexho takes 40 % of the vendors sales. This is why you don't see a lot of outside vendors. You have to charge outageous prices to make money. Outside of the 40%, the vendor has to pay food cost, and maybe labor depending on who he has working for him. Same thing goes for Sodexho. They in turn give a share of the profits to UL, so again, the reason for some of the high costs. This is way too much headache for a local restaurant to take on.

Seems to me that the common denominator in all of this is Sodexho.

UL needs to start working on a plan with local resturants / vendors to get them into UL sporting events and don't resign a contract with Sodexho when the current one is up or amend it so that it doesn't cost local vendors / resturants a much to have a place at the sporting events / venues.

    Jambalaya

Probably could make a killing selling the jambalaya they serve at the football alumni tent at baseball games.

What's funny is that before Sodexho, people complained about the crappy service and long lines at cajun field, but now they're horrible at the tigue? We could always go back to volunteers working at cajun field and have long lines for food and drinks. Be careful what you wish for...
