I think everyone is waiting until we play in the Citrus and Judy Garman Classics in March against real competition to see how good we really are. Other than Arkansas (who beat UCLA, but is only a .500 team), we've played no one, hence the huge statistics. But, that also gives us a chance to find our position players, develop a pitching staff other than Brignac, and bring her along since she didn't play last year. We seem to start out this way every year and end up OK in the end.

Donna B pitched one game against LSU and really didn't pitch that well. She gave up 7 hits and 4 runs. LSU led 4 - 0 going into the bottom of the 6th. Brittany Mack was pitching for LSU and was pitching a 1 hitter, then one error caused her to go into the tank -which she is known for when the first thing that goes bad happens - and allowed 3 more hits that inning.

In the 2nd Houston game, a girl named Crabtree pitched a 3 hitter against the Lady Tigers. Fico pitched that game and had a no hitter into the 8th. She lost it on a single due to the International rule.

No excuses, well actually an excuse is that LSU is playing without four starters. My question is how in the heck do you get injured in softball. Seems to me like a lack of off-season conditioning.

Does anyone know if Donna pitched against Oklahoma St.?

This article was ESPN about Houston's weekend and Donna Bourgeois

Love how they say that when talking about Houston's Coach, Kyla Houlas - "As seasoned as Holas may be, her standout pitching career at what is now Lousiana-Lafayette"

Why say, "what is now"? Why not just say Louisiana-Lafayette (if you have to use the regional tag on)

I thought that was an unusual question as well from LSUalum1. There isn't anything done in baseball that doesn't have a correlating injury issue in softball. I don't think any "major" sport is any more likely for injury other than football. I'm sure basketball would claim so... but I don't agree.

Wasn't there an article discussing Donna's transfer that mentioned she wanted to persue an education in holistic medicine or something. It was a strange field, and Houston offered advanced degrees for it.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that was why.

My daughter played until college and I've been to MANY college softball games.

IMO, most injuries in baseball, softball, and even basketball could easily be avoided if a strict out of season conditioning program was followed 100%.

From what I've been told by someone close to the program was that Donna was a cancer to the team and had a falling out with the coaching staff.
