I find that to be terribly close minded of you. There are lots of things about this state that I love. There are lots of things about this state that I hate. You normally hear about things people hate more than what they love because things they hate bother them. Just the nature of the beast. But putting a blanket statement on me is pretty much just as bad as what you imply I do on a regular basis. Doesn't that seem a little backwards to you? Just sayin...
Have to agree on Abita, but not on all Louisiana beer. I have actually enjoyed Highway 31 beer and found it goes great with Louisiana cooking. It is made IN Cajun country, it has to be good!
I really enjoy Abita. But I am not in LA. The first thing I want to drink when I get back to LA is Abita Amber.
I don't dig the Purple Haze or the Strawberry stuff, but women like it, so more power to them.
It all depends. There are so many different types. If I'm going domestic like at a wedding where there isn't a selection I usually gravitate towards Coors Light. I really dig Blue Moon. Stella Artois is very very good. Red Stripe is the best tasting beer I have ever had. New Castle is very good. Becks is good. Bass Pale Ale is good. So many to choose from. Hey Cajunstros whats that brand you always get every year that is pretty good?
The big bottle Abita is their best, IMO. SOS, Andygator and Abbey Ale. High ABV too!
The whole fruit in beer argument pops up each year when Abita Strawberry comes out. To paraphrase (from another forum):
poster 1...."Fruity beers are for girls"
poster 2... "Beer was first made with fruit."
poster 3... "Fruit drinks are ghey"
poster 4...."Real men drink whiskey"
poster 5...."Real men drink what they want."
Oh, I almost forgot one of my favorite beers I tried on a whim for Thanksgiving day 2009. I bought a 6 pack of Lobotomy Bock. Never heard of it before saw it had a retarded alcohol content and said WTF, and bought it. Love the beer cooler at Albertson's. I drank 5...or 4 maybe and gave one or two to my cousins. 4 or 5 of these things got me pretty slushy. But it was a weird slushy. Kinda of like I had a lobotomy. Like my brain had just clocked out at 5 and went home leaving me on autopilot. My cousin went on a hard target search and found that Whole Foods in BR has it. It was super strong....but it was really really good.
