UL Football Burnt roux: Arthur Stubblefield

It looks like he will be going to North Texas and not with us here at UL.

Aldine Eisenhower athlete Arthur Stubblefield said he has orally committed to North Texas. Stubblefield (5-11, 180) made the District 18-5A first team as a quarterback but said he will play receiver or defensive back at UNT.

That was from the Dallas Morning News.

I wished we would have went after Marvin White from Port Barre a little harder. I heard he would have like to stay closer to home but UL did not go after him very hard.

I think Marvin White never had UL on his radar. He chose TCU over LSU period.

Clutch, here's another source (Fort Worth Star-Telegram). PS: I didn't know he'd committed to you guys first.

    Recruiting Insider Notes

UNT picks up two area recruits

    By John Miller

    Star-Telegram Staff Writer

North Texas had its biggest recruiting weekend of the year, and it paid off in a big way Sunday.

Eight recruits said they plan on joining the Mean Green next season after their official visits, including commitments from Burleson quarterback Steve Warren and Kennedale defensive lineman David Collins.

Warren (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) has played defensive back and quarterback in high school, and many schools were recruiting him on defense. But North Texas wants him to play quarterback, which helped lead to his commitment.

"I figure I would be better if I stayed at quarterback," Warren said. "That's what I want to play, and I think I'm a good fit in their offense. Their quarterback basically has to know how to do it all."

Warren also considered SMU and Colorado State.

Collins (6-4, 215) did not officially commit on Sunday but said he plans on calling the coaches today and committing.

Collins also considered Stephen F. Austin, Texas State and Kansas State.

In addition to Warren, North Texas picked up four other commitments on offense: Alief Hastings tight end Eddrick Gilmore (6-5, 248), Pflugerville running back Evan Robertson (5-9, 165), Aldine Eisenhower athlete Arthur Stubblefield (5-11, 180) and Cedar Park athlete Korey Washington (5-11, 180).

The Mean Green also picked up two commitments from defensive backs with Kartey Agbottah (5-10, 180) of Irving MacArthur and Antoine Bush (5-11, 180) of Tyler John Tyler .

I wonder if the departure of Clay Jennings had anything to do with the decision.

Do we know who recruited Mr. Stubblefield ?

Stubblefield is a solid prospect, but the Cajuns are recruiting several athletes that can replace him as a DB.

    Jamal Pettiford
    Tyson Andrus
    Marcus Jackson

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . .

Hopefully we'll see one of them come to us. I would like to see 2 of them come here, but I'll be happy with one.

Andrus played cornerback in high school, while Pettiford and Jackson played quarterback.

Stubblefield played QB as well, but projects as a DB with the Cajun staff.

Andrus played WR,QB,DB,KR;Pettiford and Jackson returned some kickoffs as well. They project as well at several positions.

Marcus Jackson will be playing QB in college wherever he goes. I watched a little film on him off rivals and he is a very talented QB. He would be a very good fit in our offense
