Complete list of 2005 verbal commitments
Williams eager to help Cajuns improve defense
LOUISIANA La. - It didn't take long for LaQuincy Williams to make up his mind.
Williams, a 6-foot-2 1/2, 260-pound defensive tackle, made his official visit to the University of Louisiana over the past weekend. On Sunday, he gave Ragin' Cajun head football coach Rickey Bustle a verbal commitment.
"I liked everything I saw," said Williams, a product of Berkner High in the Dallas area. "It felt real comfortable. I just felt it was the place to be."
Williams became the Cajuns' 21st commitment to the 2005 recruiting class, 10 days away from the Feb. 2 opening of the national letter signing period. He is the seventh Texas prep product in that commitment class and the fifth defensive lineman in the group.
Williams played both tackle and end over the last two seasons for the Berkner squad of coach Jim Ledford.
He earned first-team All-District 10-5A honors and honorable mention All-State listing at tackle as a senior, after being named second-team All-District in 9-5A at end as a junior.
