Thread: Little Coverage in New Orleans, but it is something

Default Little Coverage in New Orleans, but it is something

I am so sick and tired of the coverage of Ragin Cajuns coverage in New Orleans, we have one of the largest alumni bases in St. Tammany Parish and we get hardly no coverage. But, WGNO had the ticker line at the bottom of my tv showing that we beat Arkansas State. Maybe this is the beginning, what can we do to get more coverage.....

I dread the T-P Sunday morning-----Sometimes they will have the score along with the 300 other teams in the country--No we don't even get the bold print--I swear I think there is some type of anti-UL faction at this paper ---Since UNO left it has just been a joke!!!!

For a newspaper that barely covered UNO it's no surprise they don't give us much ink.

The TPic covered UL better in 1902 than they do today..

They have a chance to fix that today. Let's see what happens.

When we were doing better in the late 80's and early 90's WWL use to give us some time. I remember they called us the "Ragin Ones". Win and all problems will be solved.

The paper has undergone severe staff reductions over the past several years and have enough people to cover what they can but you shouldn't expect them to be able to extend their efforts outside of their main coverage area without the help of freelance writers.

For example the national college softball player of the week - Gabrielle Bridges - is a graduate of John Curtis and is from the greater New Orleans area and didn't merit much attention in their eyes.

Their priorities are the Saints, Hornets, LSU and Tulane and metro-area high school and anything outside of that is off their radar.

I guess they went from covering the Queen City, to being a small time local paper for a dwindling population.

Sorry no excuse for the TP, UL's SID sends them prewritten stories within minutes of games completing.

There is nothing like a beat writer, but you will notice, when Josh can't be in 2 places at once, they will run UL SID reports credited to Staff Reports.

Last year radio station 990 AM in NO became a member of the Ragin Cajun network. (Only one out of Lafayette, I think)
