Complete list of 2005 verbal commitments

Cajuns add U-High's DE Davis to list

LOUISIANA La. - For the second time this winter, the University of Louisiana's football program has received a recruiting pledge from the Baton Rouge area.

Defensive end Hall Davis of University High gave Ragin' Cajun head coach Rickey Bustle a verbal commitment Sunday after an official visit last weekend.

"It was their interest in me from the start that was the main reason," said the 6-foot-5, 215-pound Kitten standout. "They showed a lot of interest all year, and they made me believe they could really use me.

"Plus, it's not far from home. I didn't want my parents to have to travel far to watch me play."

Davis had offers from Tulane, Southern Mississippi and Northwestern State and cancelled a scheduled recruiting visit to Northwestern this weekend. He joins Parkview Baptist safety/quarterback Jacob Lennox as Cajun commitments from Baton Rouge.

Davis is the 18th verbal commitment for the 2005 signing class and was one of nearly a dozen prospects visiting the campus last weekend.

"It wasn't one particular thing that stood out," said Davis, who is academically qualified. "It was a combination of things. I felt comfortable there, and the players I met, I felt like I could fit in well."
