NEW ORLEANS - In two games, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns have gone from being the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight to Road Warriors.

The Cajuns made an eye-catching 23-of-27 free throws and dominated the backboards by a 42-27 margin to sink the New Orleans Privateers 72-67 before 1,521 fans Saturday night at Lakefront Arena.

Coming two nights after a 59-56 defeat of South Alabama in Mobile, the victory improved UL to 8-7 overall and back in the Sun Belt Conference race at 2-1.

"When we lost to Denver, I said the only way we could get that one back was to go on the road and, actually, to win all three on this trip," said coach Robert Lee, whose team visits New Mexico State on Thursday. "So, our job is not done yet."

Lee's Cajuns shot a miserable 2-of-13 from the field to start the game, but 20-of-42 the rest of the way as they maintained their composure in hostile territory.

"We've been in this kind of situation before," said Brian Hamilton, who hit 9-of-12 shots and had a team-high 19 points for UL. "We had to come back down here and get a win."

"Experience is a big advantage to us," Lee said. "We've got five guys on this team who have seen everything. We knew (at 2-of-13) that the game was just starting. We were going to take it possession by possession and get back in the game."

Senior guard Orien Greene started his first game since breaking a leg against Kansas Dec. 11, scoring 13 points and pulling down 6 rebounds in 31 minutes of play.
