Instead of regular tailgating, sell tickets ahead of time & have a huge crawfish boil with zydeco & cajun bands before the game & have meet & greet with the coaches & players after the game. It should really be an official welcome for the coaches & players as much as it is for the fans. Nobody can throw a crawfish boil like people lafayette people can.

here is an idea from us, not a knock on any other team just an idea. we ran this ad campaign leading up to Mullens first spring game and done it again last year. They sold the "True Maroon" t shirts leading up to the game. You could sell em for $10 bucks a piece, and if you have one on you get in the game free. Proceeds go to RCAF. Run a commercial similar to this one.

No the baseball team plays at FIU that weekend but softball has a home series. They should work on scheduling the same weekend in the future.

I thought Scott Farmer said on BEV that it would be April 9 ~6pm. I hope I did not dream that.

Book Wayne Toups for a halftime performance and have a $5 crawfish boil before the game. Presenting a ticket to the game (available at the ticket offices, either free or $1, depending on what you decide) and $5 gets you a bracelet good for all YOU can eat, and you can have several locations set up outside the stadium to handle the problem of overcrowding at one place. Get as many famous former Cajuns - especially football, but any sport, really - to do an autograph session on the field for 45 minutes after the game. If you can get a couple former UL quarterbacks there (say, Babb and Desormeaux), they could quarterback a free 12-and-under two hand touch football game after the autograph session.

I meant to put both the 9th and the 16th. I've heard both. The 9th we are out of town for both sports

The spring game is a practice, don't make me go all Allen Iverson on you guys!

I think the t-shirt idea is great! It promotes spirit and enthusiasm!

I would sell them for $10 before that date, then an advanced price the day of the event. This will give the admin an early count on attendance so they can plan accordingly for staff. At the reunion basketball game several concession stands were half-manned because they were expecting another 1-2k crowd. They didn't know there was a special event planned. I know that was the Cajundome's lack of planning, but the idea is same. The more advance notice they have of a crowd, the better prepared they can be.

Anyway, I see some good ideas on here, I just like this one the best so far.

Split the fans into Red and White supporters.... Get McD's or someone to offer a free meal to the winner's fans

Holding a pre-game crawfish boil... students get in free.. $5 for all others gets you into the game... $1 for those that just want to go to the game..

    Post game concert....

Promote promote promote..... It would be tremendous if it were a night game after a baseball game... don't know the schedule but that would make it a Cajun Spring Sports bash....

Lots of good ideas... keep em coming
