Huge win .. Cameron does it again
If we make our free throws it wouldn't be close. This team plays hard. Not too pretty at times, but they do play hard!!
Officiating for a change wasn't too bad. I give them about an 8.25. It got pretty physical in the 2nd half, which resulted in more fouls being called. They did a respectable job overall. And this is coming from someone who isn't fond of officials, except Boudreaux.
Southern Illinois at Louisiana-Lafayette
Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Chris Cameron's layup to beat the buzzer provided the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns with a 63-61 win over the Southern Illinois Salukis in non-conference play from the Cajundome.
Cameron finished with 12 points for the Cajuns (6-6) as they won for the third time in the last four games. Although he was guilty of five turnovers, Tiras Wade tallied a team-high 18 points for ULLA, while Brian Hamilton chipped in 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals in the victory as well.
The Salukis (11-3), who had their seven-game winning streak snapped, got 18 points from both Stetson Hairston and LaMar Owen, with the latter clearing a team-high eight rebounds as well in the road loss. Mike Dale checked in with 12 points in 16 minutes off the bench.
Managed to listen to most of the game via the internet. Sounded like a terrific game. Definitely agree with the free throw concerns. Got to get better from the charity stripe!
BTW, how was the attendance?
Shof
It was announced as 3K+. In my opinion it was not a good crowd. We should be averaging not less than 5K per game. Our wishy-washy fans need to come out and see this team. At times they play ugly, but they DO PLAY HARD!! The big concern I have is free throw shooting. I honestly thought we were going to lose last night's game at the foul line. If we can begin making 70%+ of our free throws we should be in good shape down the road.
Caught the tail-end and glad I did!
I'm a die-hard fan....wish we had more local support! Well, good luck to the Cajuns....See ya Saturday!
I wish there were another 2K like you. Esquire!!
i was lucky enough to be counted in that number.. maybe again tomorrow..
ps. think anyone calls ross "double duece" ?
The attendance was not good, but was VOCAL!!!!! I have been in the Cajundome with 5K fans that was not that loud.
I do agree with that,Square Head. The student section in the "end zone" were really vocal. The sideline line fans, also, got into the game.Kinda, just kinda, reminded me of the old Blackham days.
