KINDER, La. (AP) - Kinder Police Chief Gary Pelican has been cleared of wrongdoing in the follow-up investigation of a routine audit that found he may have been overpaid.
Mayor Estes LeDoux said Monday the state police cleared Pelican
after investigators contacted the grant commission that gave the
chief $6,000 in overtime pay for working details that focused on
drug activity and impaired drivers.
Attorney Mike Holmes also rendered an opinion on the matter, but
declined to release his findings Monday.
It was request to see the opinion was denied. Holmes
said a public records request to see it could be made to city hall.
Pelican contends he worked the details because the department was short-handed.
