That is pretty good! I do wish my Dawgs played you guys regularly in baseball... I had a good time visiting Lafayette for the last series we played, even though we got our asses handed to us. Good luck this year in the Belt!

Let's get that home-and-home in football started, with the first one at Cajun Field, and then we'll be happy to enjoy those games again!

Let's do both, man! Of course you've already seen me say that on here, so there's no question there. You guys have a nice baseball facility and atmosphere, so I really enjoyed it. I think we've now got a pretty cool little ballpark in Ruston with a much improved atmosphere now, but we've still got quite a few things we need to do to ours. It just takes time since the school doesn't prioritize baseball like it does football and basketball. Once we have more success in those, it'll filter down to baseball, I'm sure.

What are you guys' opinions on the artificial turf you have? Do you prefer it or would you rather natural turf again? I'm a bit of a traditionalist and still play baseball, and would feel really weird not playin' on real grass and dirt, but I guess I won't know unless I ever get a chance to play on artificial turf. Has the team said anything about it?

I hate going to the ballpark on a sunny afternoon and watching a game on turf. However, it is very nice to get those early season feb, and march games in when it's wet...I think it's more positive than negative thing for us...I just like the smell of freshly cut green grass when u walk into the park.

I personally like the turf. Talking to players after games most of the visiting teams have said they liked it too.

What is the feeling now on your coach after I think about 2-3 years at Tech---I know he was Loved here????

There are many advantages to turf. For smaller budget schools it makes perfect sense. Your maintenance costs go wayyyy down, since there is virtually no maintenance. In addition, since your own coaches are doing said maintenance, it gives them more time to, well, coach. And recruit.

It also takes many rainouts out of your schedule. It didn't come into play last year as we had a pretty dry spring, but on this stuff it can pour down for an hour and as soon as the rain ends, you fix the mound and play.

We saw first hand two years ago what the turf means. Troy has it as well. The conference tournament was there and it rained every day. We never would have gotten the tournament in had they had natural grass.

It plays pretty much like grass. The ground ball moves a little more slowly and you have to start your slide early otherwise you'll go past the bag...especially if it's wet.

Well, people give Simoneaux a lot of room for improvement at Tech, because we just simply don't have great resources devoted to baseball, unfortunately. He has done a lot to promote it though, and has fixed up the facilities the best he can. The only issue that has Tech fans starting to really get fed up with him is the fact that somehow almost ALL our best pitchers have season-ending arm injuries either before the season starts or right after it starts, every freakin' year. No one knows why, but this has happened consistently. We have good offense and defense, and recruit supposedly good pitchers, but they stay hurt and in surgery the whole time they're in Ruston. Hopefully he can solve that problem soon, because he really is in a difficult situation with baseball being WAY behind basketball and football in funding/support from our athletic administration. I give him another season or two.

Injuries can be a coaches undoing sometimes...

NOBODY IN THE UNITED STATES HAS HAD THEIR ENTIRE ATHLETIC PROGRAM GO THROUGH THE INJURIES THAT UL HAS FOR THE LAST 2-3 YEARS---WELL I WOULD BE WILLING TO COMPARE---TRULY NOT LIMITED TO SPORT AND /OR GENDER!!!!!!!
