Not to tease anyone...but I was looking at the top Houston athletes in the Chronicle, and apparently now a top QB from Houston has the Cajuns listed as one of his schools of choice. His name is Marcus Jackson 6'1'' 190 lbs. played at Westside. He went to school with the big time running back recruit out of Westside, RJ Jackson. I'm not sure if they are related. The schools also list for Jackson are Baylor, UH, TCU, Utah, and then the Cajuns. Hope this helps some of you.

That would be great news on Wallace if correct. Rivals still has K-State in the "lead".

Yes they still have K-State in the "lead" but if you read the article we are the only other school he mentions.

Houston RB thinking things over (Rivals.com 1/10/05)
Houston (Texas) Worthing running back Deon Wallace has taken two official visits this season, but he doesn't find himself ready to make a college choice just yet. The three-star rated back is still hearing from several schools.

Deon Wallace is still thinking through all of his options.
"Things are going alright," the 5-foot-7, 175-pound Wallace said. "I have visited both Kansas State and Louisiana-Lafayette. "I went to Kansas State in December and Lafayette during November toward the end of the season."

Those two visits are in the book, and no others are scheduled at this point.

"I don't have any other trips scheduled," he said. "I am getting closer to making a decision, but I'm just not ready to do it. It is a tough thing to do. I want to find the best school for me. I am looking past football. I want to get a good education, too, so that is something I have to look at."

Wallace holds offers from Kansas State, Colorado, Louisiana-Lafayette, Utah, Baylor and Texas Tech.

"I'll probably move toward making a decision later in the month. No school is really pushing me to hurry up and make a choice. I'm taking my time because I want to be sure of it when I do choose."

If this is true then for everyone who watched Jamario Thomas this year and said why cant we have that type of back might be getti there wish. This is huge, from the start when i seen his named mentioned i began to follow reports about him and he is everything and because of his size he is very underrated. But we will wait and see if this is true before we get our hopes up to much.

Has anyone seen a confirmation on this yet?? A big time running back could have made wins out of all those close games this year.

  12. Default Running back pledges to Cajuns

LOUISIANA La. - University of Louisiana head football coach Rickey Bustle received his 16th verbal commitment for the 2005 recruiting class Tuesday, and is hoping that good things come in small packages.

Diminutive Deon Wallace, ranked as one of Texas' top running backs and listed in at least one national recruiting list, gave Bustle a verbal pledge on Tuesday after visiting the campus in December.

"I liked the whole program," Wallace said, "the school, the coaching staff, the players, the environment. All of that combined made it a good choice for me."

The 5-foot-8, 180-pound Wallace, a product of Worthing High in Houston, Texas, had previously visited Kansas State and had Colorado, LSU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Hawaii on his list before deciding on the Cajuns. He is the third running back on this year's commitment list.

"They told me I'd have a chance to play quickly," he said. "It depends on how quick I can pick everything up and how comfortable I am with everything."

Wallace rushed for 1,820 yards on 169 carries as a senior, averaging 10.8 yards per carry, and scored 20 touchdowns in his third year in the starting lineup. He had more than 500 receiving yards and three scores and saw action on punt and kickoff returns.

"I think I've got good hands, and I can play in the slot and not just in the backfield," Wallace said. "I try to be elusive."
