It has been stated on here that Zimmerman was over used last year and suffered for it. If his arm has recovered and he stays healthy he will be just fine.
We should once again be a solid 10 to 12 deep in pitching.
I project that by the end of the year if he has the glove, the freshmen Strenz will be the everyday Starter at catcher.
First will be covered in the end by the freshmen Compton.
You will see plenty of minutes from several freshmen pitchers.
You will also see time from Leonards & Francia up the middle.
This could be the best Freshmen class in our History!

Not to bust your bubble but of all the sports I think baseball has proven to be the demise of many a freshman.

Between moving out of mom's house, learning how to truly study, mix in a party every few months , and then play Div 1 baseball at a high level.....tends to get between their ears more often than not.

Baseball is a mental game that physical talent alone cannot overcome. I like what I see on paper, what I hear about practice, but I'll believe it when I see it showing up on the field four days a week when it counts.

Plus the added pressure from the NCAA in not allowing schools to find any "funny money" to pay for a full ride.

In any of the sports where the NCAA does not allow a school to find an empty chair . . . many a career has ended because of financial pressures.

Yeah if you get a chance read some of Ron Polk's thoughts on the NCAA and baseball. Title IX has not helped baseball at all.

Although the TOPS program has helped someewhat with in state recruits. Hasn't made others around the country very happy though.

We may get hit very hard with the draft for next year's class. I am hearing the kid from I believe Breaux Bridge and Tony's boy Austin are both likely to get drafted very high (top 5 rounds) and they may have another top prospect also get drafted high and the money may be to good to pass up.

At least with Austin we have his dad as coach, that has to count for something. We just have to hope these guys decide they want to go to college.

To be honest, I'm not sure Chaz will end up here. I get the feeling he will sign if drafted.

Austin, I think, is more likely to play for UL.

Chaz Hebert in my opinion will be on campus. Having a little insight on the situation, I know that he is projected as a 10 - 15 round pick the last I heard. Simply not enough $$$$ to get his attention at this point. Certainly not enough to pass on the college experience. Think about it, as good as Mikie Mahtook was at STM, he was drafted in the 39th round. I realize that pitchers [particularly lefties that throw in the upper 80's] get more attention than position players out of high school but Hebert is still really really raw in a lot of areas. Tremendous upside to this kid. 2 - 3 years under Robe and he'll be a top 10 rounder for sure barring injuries.

The one that I'd be concerned about next year is Ben Carter [RHP] that is at LSUE this season. He is currently ranked the #3 JUCO prospect in the state. He signed with UL in November.

Jace Conrad is also getting some attention but like Hebert, I see him on campus as well. Although he can play anywhere on the field [other than catcher], his athletic capabilities will be what sells him. Still likely to be a Cajun.

My comments are more based on conversations with some BBHS coaches and people around the program. Nothing set in stone obviously, not sure he wants to go to school though. I really hope he ends up on campus
