If he keeps that up all spring it will be tough for us to have him back next year.

I don't think this is etched in stone. And, I don't think Robe gave me that on the show.

when I spoke to him earlier in the week he said he had not decided on opening night starter. Zimmerman was mentioned but so were a few others.

The media kit mentions those three as well.

Not saying it won't happen, but I don't think that's a done deal yet, unless he finalized it in the last day or so.

Did Coach Robe mention who he is thinking will be his top relievers and closer?

I like Bulliard, Duhon, Hicks, and Wascom out of the pen. And I like Parker to be the closer if he does not become a starter. I think Parker may have the best stuff on the team!

I also like for possibly Traffica and Nicholson to crack into the weekend or mid-week rotation. If they don't they will be long relievers.

So my top 2 potential closers are Wascom and Parker.

Don't forget about Hubbell, I think that he will be our primary lefthanded option out of the bullpen if he isn't used as a starter. The guy can be downright filthy when he is on and I think he could be our closer if he isn't used in the role of situational lefty. Watch for hubbel to be a huge contributor for the cajuns next season.

Your right, when I went to the roster I guess I thought of him as a starter but you are right I believe he will be a long left handed reliever on the weekends.

Looks like we are experienced and deep on the bump! Coach Robe has many viable options to go to. Let's hope all our guys stay healthy and continue to get better as the season goes along... Geaux Cajuns!

I get ya, its hard to think of certain guys out of the roles they were used in last year. For instance, its hard to think of Satriano as a starter just because he was so nails as a late inning reliever last year. With that said, if he has the endurance to go 6-7 innings a game, that is the guy I think has the most potential to be all conference.

Are you talking about Mike Petello? If thats who you mean, he's still on the team as far as I know, and probably gonna be one of our regular Outfielders. his bat is really good.

No one has mentioned Cook, Frith, and Kellogg in the mix. All three had excellent fall outings.
Cook is a senior and Frith a junior. Kellogg is a freshman, but had one of the best performances of the fall world series.

On Saturday, UL had a 9 inning intersquad game. Bulliard, Cook, and Frith (3 innings each) combined to beat Geith, Duhon, and Hicks 4-3. Frith may be a lefty closer option, as he got the save.

Also, in the fall, Hubble was the top performing pitcher, going 2-0 in the fall world series. He outdueled Geith both times. I think Hubbell could be a starter if one of the others falter.

I was thinking the same thing about Cook. I just hope the young man has th kind of year that his talent points to him being able to have. Believe MIKE!!

And, yes, Petello is so much part of the team, he will probably be penciled in to hit clean-up.

I believe the team has had intra-squad games each day since pre-season practice started last Friday.. Good opportunity to view how the team is shaping up!
