In St. Mary Parish, icy roads caused portions of highway 90 to close Thursday morning.
David Naquin, sheriff of St. Martin says the ice caused more than 20 accidents throughout the parish. "We actually had one car that went over the top of the overpass," said Naquin.
Drivers say they are frustrated with the heavy flow of traffic that road closures caused.
"It's been hectic! It's like reliving the hurricane. We have to take back roads and alot of people are calling in to work because the roads are closed," said Charlene Henderson.
